Joan Jackson is a contemporary folk artist working in acrylic on wood panel. Her paintings are bold, strange, funny, and a little unruly—filled with people, animals, and coastal scenes stripped down to their most essential shapes and pushed into unexpected color. There’s humor in the work, but also tension, awkwardness, and personality. Her paintings have appeared in juried exhibitions at the Wickford Art Association and South County Art Association and are held in private collections across the U.S.
